During the Hollywood strike, I’ve been reading some of my old Star Wars books. Of the twelve I’ve read so far, two have had Shakespeare references. A.C. Crispin’s The Paradise Snare, the first book in The Han Solo Trilogy, contains a reference to Hamlet. Crispin writes, “‘Right behind you,’ Han said, suiting his action to his words” (p. 78). Hamlet, in advising the players, says, “Suit the action to the word, the word to the action, with this special observance, that you o’erstep not the modesty of nature.”
Star Wars: The Paradise Snare was published in July 1997.
